What Does it Cover?
Section I: Own Damage
ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance policy provides your protection in case of loss or damage to your vehicle and its accessories in case of –
- Fire, explosion, self-ignition, or lightning.
- Burglary, housebreaking, or theft.
- Riot and strike.
- Earthquake (both fire and shock damage).
- Hurricane, flood, typhoon, storm, inundation, tempest, cyclone, frost, hailstorm.
- Accidental external means.
- Malicious acts.
- Acts of terrorism.
- While the vehicle is in transit, whether by road/rail/inland waterway/lift/elevator/air.
- Landslide or rockslide.
This applies with a deduction for depreciation based on the following rates for replaced parts –
- Rubber, nylon, plastic parts, tyres, tubes, batteries, and airbags - 50%.
- Fibreglass components - 30%.
- Glass parts - No deduction.
- Depreciation rates for all other parts, including wooden ones, follow the schedule below –

- When it comes to painting, a 50% depreciation rate applies solely to the material cost of the total painting charges. If there is a consolidated bill for painting expenses, the insurer will consider the material portion as 25% of the total painting charges when calculating the depreciation.
Section II: Liability to Third Parties
ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will offer compensation for –
- Death or physical harm caused to another person.
- Damages to property that does not belong to you or is not under your care or control.
Section III: Personal Accident Coverage for Owner-Driver
Personal Accident (PA) coverage in your two-wheeler insurance acts as a financial safeguard against physical disability or death caused by an accident. This coverage is provided along with your vehicle insurance, just like general insurance that provides financial protection.
In the event of death or bodily injury suffered by the owner-driver, the insurer will offer compensation based on the following data –

What is Not Covered?
The insurer will not be responsible for any payment in the following cases –
- Consequential loss, depreciation, wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdowns, or breakages.
- Damage to tyres and tubes, unless your vehicle is also damaged at the same time. In such a case, the insurer will be liable to pay up to 50% of the replacement cost.
- Any accidental loss or damage that occurs when you or anyone driving the vehicle with your approval is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Insured Declared Value (IDV)
The Insured Declared Value is the amount that the insurer will compensate you with in case your vehicle is entirely damaged or stolen. It is determined by subtracting depreciation from your two-wheeler's invoice amount.

General Exceptions
ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will not be responsible for any payment in the event of –
- Accidental loss or damage occurs outside the specified geographical area.
- Claims arising from contractual obligations.
- Damage or loss that occurs while the vehicle is being used in a manner contrary to the 'Limitations as to Use’ or being driven by or intended to be driven by anybody other than the driver mentioned in the driver's clause.
- Accidental loss or damage to property resulting from consequential loss.
- Liability, whether direct or indirect, caused by or related to ionising radiations or radioactivity contamination from nuclear fuel or nuclear waste combustion. Here, combustion includes any self-sustaining nuclear fission process.
- Damage or loss that is directly or indirectly linked to nuclear weapons material.
- Damage or loss, directly or indirectly caused or resulting from events like war, invasion, foreign enemy actions, etc. or any consequences of these events. In the event of a claim, you must show that the loss, damage, or liability occurred independently and had no connection to these events. If you cannot provide such proof, the insurer will not be liable to make any payment for such a claim.
Add-Ons
1. Garage Cash
If you pay an extra premium, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will provide the following benefits –
- A daily allowance, as mentioned in the schedule, for each day your vehicle is being repaired in a garage due to damage covered by the policy. This is subject to the maximum number of days.
- A lump-sum amount, as stated in the schedule, if your vehicle suffers a total loss or constructive total loss.
Conditions
The insurer will provide coverage only if –
- Claim is approved under Section I - loss or damage to your vehicle.
- Your vehicle has been in the garage for a minimum number of days, as specified in the schedule. The claim for this add-on will be payable from the day your vehicle was delivered to the garage.
- If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered within 90 days from the date of theft.
- They are notified within 24 hours of the loss or damage.
- The repair work is carried out in the company's authorised garages.
You can make a maximum of 3 claims under this add-on. The coverage period for which the company will pay for this add-on starts from the day after your vehicle is delivered to the garage and ends on the day before the discharge date or the garage's repair invoice date, whichever is earlier.
Once your vehicle is removed from the garage, the insurer will not be responsible for any further payments related to the specific accidental loss or damage. And, the company will not be liable for claims where there is a delay of more than 24 hours in delivering your vehicle to the garage from the time of the accidental damage or loss or an unavailability of required spare parts for repair.
2. NCB Protect
By paying an extra premium, you will be eligible for a No Claims Bonus, as outlined in Table 1 – as part of Section I of the policy.

You will not receive any No Claim Bonus if you file more than 3 claims within the same policy period under Section I of the policy.

3. Return to Invoice
If you opt for this add-on by paying an extra premium, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will calculate the sum insured as the difference between the vehicle’s IDV and the total cost of buying a new vehicle of the same make and model, based on the on-road price determined by the manufacturer/dealer. The sum insured will be paid to you for total loss or constructive total loss.
Under this add-on,
- The on-road price includes the -
- Actual cost to buy a new vehicle.
- Value of factory-fitted or dealer-added accessories at the time of purchase.
- Vehicle registration costs.
- Road tax.
- Insurance costs.
- For outdated models, the sum insured will be determined based on the last selling price of the vehicle.
Note: This coverage is subject to the conditions, exceptions, limitations, and other provisions of this policy.
4. Zero Depreciation Benefit
If you opt for this add-on by paying an extra premium, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will not deduct any depreciation for replaced parts due to damage to your vehicle and its accessories caused by perils covered in the policy.
However, please note that this endorsement applies only to the first 2 claims within the policy period. Any additional claims will be subject to depreciation as specified in the policy’s terms and conditions.
Conditions
The insurer will provide coverage only if -
- Your claim is approved under Section I of the policy.
- Your vehicle experiences a total loss or constructive total loss.
You are responsible for the voluntary deductible amount that you choose for this add-on. This amount is in addition to the deductible applied under the basic policy. If you opt for a voluntary deductible specifically for this add-on, you will receive a discount on the premium.
Note: Certain conditions will apply.
5. Roadside Assistance Benefit
If you pay an extra premium, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will cover up to 4 claims for emergency assistance services during the policy period, whenever you request for them. These services can be related to various emergencies and are available in areas where the insurer has its network of garages or through its service providers.
Here are the services offered under this add-on -
- Towing in Case of Breakdown or Accident
If your vehicle becomes immobile or unfit for road use due to a breakdown or accident, the insurer will arrange towing services to the nearest garage within a 50-kilometre radius from the incident location. However, any charges for towing beyond this distance will be your responsibility.
- Phone Assistance for Breakdowns
If your vehicle experiences minor mechanical issues or malfunctions, the insurer will offer you telephonic guidance to troubleshoot and resolve these problems.
- Fuel Assistance
If your vehicle becomes immobile because it ran out of fuel, the insurer will organise the supply of up to 5 litres of fuel to your location during the breakdown. However, please note that you will be responsible for all fuel expenses, labour costs, and transportation charges.
- Incorrect Fuel Type
If you fill your vehicle's fuel tank with the wrong type of fuel by mistake, the insurer will arrange for experts to empty the tank. If necessary, they will also arrange towing your vehicle to the nearest garage for this purpose. Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for all towing fees, while the insurer will only cover the costs associated with emptying the fuel tank.
- Lost Keys Assistance
If you misplace your vehicle keys, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will either deliver your spare keys to your vehicle's location or send technicians to unlock your vehicle. The company will cover all labour and transportation expenses. To receive this service, you must provide proof of ownership of the vehicle. Please note that this service is available within a 100-kilometre radius from where the key got lost.
- Battery Jump Start
If your vehicle is stranded due to a drained battery, the insurer will arrange for a technician to jump start your vehicle. You will be responsible for any battery charging or replacement costs, while the company will cover all labour and transportation charges for the jump start assistance.
- Message Relay
If your vehicle becomes immobile due to an accident or breakdown, the insurer will help you send urgent messages to specific people you choose, through available communication methods.
- Flat Tyre Assistance
If your vehicle has a flat tyre and cannot move, the insurer will assist you in the following ways –
- They will arrange for a technician to replace the flat tyre with your spare stepney tyre at the breakdown location.
- If repairs are not possible at the scene, they will do it elsewhere.
- If needed, they will transport the flat tyre to the nearest repair facility, return it to your breakdown location, and attach it to your vehicle.
Please note that you will be responsible for any material or spare part expenses and any other related costs during the repairs. However, the insurer will cover the labour and transportation expenses for both (A) and (B) above.
- Minor Repairs
If your vehicle stops working because of a small mechanical or electrical issue, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will send a technician to the breakdown location to fix it. The company will cover the labour and transportation costs. Minor repairs, in this context, refer to fixes that can be done on-site without needing any spare parts and take less than 45 minutes.
- Rental Vehicle Arrangement
If your vehicle becomes immobile due to a breakdown or accident, the insurer will help you arrange for an alternative mode of transportation from the breakdown or accident site to your desired destination. You will be informed of all rental vehicle charges that need to be covered from your own pocket.
- Accommodation Arrangements
If your vehicle becomes immobile due to a breakdown or accident, the insurer will help you find a nearby hotel for accommodation. You will be informed of all the charges for the accommodation that have to be covered by you.
- Legal Advisor Referral
If your vehicle is involved in an accident and you need a legal advisor, the insurer will provide you with the contact details of a suitable legal advisor in your requested area. This service is applicable only if the accident occurs at least 50 kilometres away from the residential address you declared at the time of purchasing the policy. You will be informed of all charges for the legal advisor's services. These will be your responsibility.
- Hospital Referral
In case of an accident involving your vehicle and you or any passengers need medical attention, the insurer will help you find the contact information of any nearby hospital. This service is available if the accident occurs at a distance of at least 50 kilometres away from the residential address you declared at the time of purchasing the policy.
- Taxi Benefits
If your vehicle becomes immobile due to an accident or breakdown, the insurer will cover the cost of transportation for a specific number of occupants up to a certain distance, as specified in your policy.
This service is applicable only if the incident happens at least 50 kilometres away from your declared residential address. Any expenses incurred for distances beyond the coverage limit will be your responsibility. In the rare event that the insurer cannot arrange for this service, they may ask you to arrange and pay for the taxi yourself and then submit the bill for the pre-authorised amount to them for reimbursement.
- Accommodation Assistance
If your vehicle becomes immobile due to an accident or breakdown, ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will provide hotel accommodation for the occupants of your vehicle for 1 day, up to the specified amount per person subject to the maximum number of individuals as stated in your policy.
This service is applicable only if -
- The incident occurs at least 100 kilometres away from the residential address you declared at the time of purchasing the policy.
- The estimated repair time for your vehicle exceeds 12 hours from the time of the accident or breakdown.
- The number of individuals in your vehicle does not exceed the maximum seating capacity.
In the rare event that the insurer cannot arrange for this service, they may ask you to secure accommodation yourself and submit the bill for the pre-authorised amount to them for reimbursement.
ICICI Lombard Two-Wheeler Insurance will not be responsible for –
- The mentioned services in cases of earthquakes, wars, invasions, rebellions, revolts, riots, actions by government or government agencies, etc.
- Any claims when your vehicle is used for racing, rallying, motorsports, or is not operated in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Claims where your vehicle can safely drive to the nearest garage or workshop under its own power.
- Claims related to theft or any consequential losses.
- Losses covered by another insurance policy, manufacturer's warranty, recall campaign, or similar packages concurrently.
- Costs for supplying or replacing parts/consumables.
- Damage to your vehicle when used or driven against the recommendations in the owner's/manufacturer's manual.
Claims for services obtained without prior consent from the insurer.
